Angels & Demons Tragedy

It is a 'no no' this hyped movie: 'Angels and Demons'
I had been looking forward to seeing the promised masterpiece for months. After the success with 'The Davinci Code' I could not imagine one could fail so desperately with the next (though, 'Angels and Demons' is said have happened before what follows in 'The Davinci Code'...)
But honestly, it is not a good movie. Better to not make movies out of books at all, if they end up like this disappointment!

Apparently, the movie makers even twisted the story so it became less 'provocative'. Never heard of that before...!

PAPABUBBLE

Amazing CANDY. Amazing place. Amazing location. Amazing people. Amazing 'boxing' (see below).
Do absolutely not miss when in New York!

I bring you, PAPABUBBLE!

I LOVE TOM'S

Tom's Shoes. You buy one pair - they give one away to a child in Argentina. Great business with sustainability as their no.1 priority! I like the once with the batik print, mmmm!

We salute you!

Going Commercial Baby!

Well, a few weeks ago me and James were 'head hunted' by a woman from a media company. Turned out they were doing a print ad campaign for Xbox new game 'Lips' and they wanted us for the shoot. It would involve one whole day of work and we would walk out with a nice bunch of cash. So of course, we said Yes!
James drove us to the gigantic studio by Chelsea Piers at 7 am. The city was beautiful from the Vespa!
Anyhow, the photo shoot stretched from 8 in the morning to 7 in the evening. After many hours of sweat, and a mere voice left, we could leave the studio and it's 'artists' from both Xbox and Microsoft. What will the result be? The cover of the new game, Xbox Lips, in Scandinavia and Germany (apparently I look german?!). It might end up in print ads in papers and stuff but I really hope not! The design for the european cover, I must say, looks a hell of a lot cooler than the american!!! (see below)

All in all, a fun experience!

Thanks to:
All the participating youngsters in the studio!
Microsoft and their ginormous budget...!

A Really Good Perfume Never Wears Out

10 years ago I heard this song for the first time. Some how we managed to find it yesterday AND a few friends were discussing the exact same song when we arrived at their rood top hang out earlier today. Pretty cool text.

Nota Bene

From the new album 'Junior', lovely, creative and inspiring.

The Best Day Of My Life

I just found out I was admitted to Parsons School for Design. I am going to do fulfill the dream of a bachelors degree in Design and Management starting September 1st.
My life is incredibly good today, and will continue to be for many many many more days to come!!!!!!

Hard work pays off people!

Asshole Warhol

Andy Warhol was an ass, brilliant, but a complete ass.
Yesterday I saw the movie 'Factory Girl' starring Sienna Miller as Edie Sedgwick, Guy Perarce as Andy Warhol and Hayden Christensen as Bob Dylan. The movie is magnificent but horrifying. Sienna really proves her ability to act in the role of her life because she makes an almost identical impression of the real Edie Sedgwick. The dancing, the drinking, the talking, the drugs... every aspect is perfect.
Anyhow, after watching the film I realized just what a self absorbed full-feathered abuser Mr. Warhol really was. He was a major reason to poor Edies death at 28. And others much too early passing too. He did not influence people for the better that is for sure. But however, a very interesting movie after all.
Last but not least I must advice you to see the movie 'I'm Not There' of you want to see a good impression of Bob Dylan because Hayden does not really hit the spot here...!

At last, a quote by Andy Warhol which, according to my opinion, says a lot about what he thought of him self...

'The World Fascinates Me...'

- Oh really?!

Photographer: Terry Richardson

The one, the only, the magnificent..... TERRY RICHARDSON!
He is a photographic genius and has been actively working for many, many years. He is one of my favorite photographers and every time I see an old, or new, picture which really sticks it more often than seldom turns out to be He who shot it.
Amazing, and a bitt kinky, man. I love it!

Below follows some samples...
(the picture of the two 'Gossip Girls' is the cover for this months edition of Rolling Stone Magazine)

Balloons In My Ceiling

Today is a one year anniversary to one of those times I came to New York as a visitor. Last year I came to celebrate my boyfriends 25th birthday, today he is 26 and I can honestly tell you, he is suffering. When I start obsessing about aging I tell my self that wisdom comes with the years - even though I haven't really met anyone who I would call really wise.

Well, that's enough sentimental crap for one day!

What I wanted to high light today are a few touching or magnificent ads for major brands, such as Sony, Absolut Vodka, Diesel and Schweppes...

Quote Of The Day

"Many of Manhattan settlers are probably here merely to escape, not to face, reality."
- E. B. White in the descriptive narrative novel; 'Here is New York'

Moments of Future Anecdotes

Winter just passed over to spring here in New York. Small flowers are popping up here and there and the city is alive again.
A celebration was inevitable so, we turned up on a guest list at a private 'hat party' in one of the city's most amazing condominium buildings 0 - the old downtown police department.
The party and the apartment was amazing. Unfortunately no words could ever describe this experience of complete intoxication amongst friends and unannounced. However, there are a few pictures to add...

In the penthouse in this end of the building was where it went down...

Some of the space...

Part of the patry...
ATTENTION! DO NOT LOOK AT THE VIDEO OF THIS SONG - it will ruin it. It is really great!

Intoxication in 3D

The other day me + 2 gentlemen had a very pleasant visit to the Union Square cinema. The relatively new stop-motion movie by Tim Burton, Coraline, is shown in 3D there and we couldn't resist... despite our suspicions around the childish nature of this innovate screenplay.

Well, it was an experience like no other so, I would sugest you make this visit too. I think it was minimum ten years ago, at Disney land in Paris, I watched a movie in 3D. Technology has evolved since then I assure you!

Polaroid Extinction

While we resistantly say good bye to the era of the polaroid pictures we step further into the technologic era. There for have a few smart people invented a software which works exactly the same way - We love it! I have never before enjoyed such a simple application within my dashboard. Download and enjoy!

Children of the City

well, children walk amongst us even though they are rarely sighted. Overprotective New York-parents is not what I would have wished for as a child, and luckily i got something very different! I just thought I might highlight the wonderful days this city has enjoyed since the new 'baby carrying' trend exploded around New York City blocks. Thank god we got rid of some of those strollers! Now there's actually space on the sidewalks.
Obviously, kids is not something I will engage in for a long time but at times they can be surprisingly amusing...

Girl of 5:
- When you're getting married you're not allowed to laugh or to say the word no...

Boy of 6:
- A while back men were not allowed to have babies them selves, it was considered unmusical. Now it is more common that moms and dads have the baby together...

Girl of 6:
- Marriage is supposed to last forever but if the man turns out to not be as nice as the girl thought, they can divorce...

And Another One Bites The Dust

I submitted my shiny new Parsons application a few minutes ago. Now I hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Not getting in this time means a lot of things - just one of them will be a forced moving back home and I will suffer to the end of time (or to the time when I actually get in). But enough about that!

Wish me the best of luck!

New Year - New Routines

Well, one year has passed and a lot changed.
My home is New York City and I have no plans of going back home! So right now there are some up dates in place...

First some music...

Then, the interview no one should miss...

http://handmadezwonull.blogspot.com/2008/03/die-zeit-interview-with-philippe-starck.html

In other news: I met Jude Law at The Box on Thursday. Nice guy actually but I would really recommend him to loos the mustache...!! Extraordinary funny to hear him say 'pussys' and 'boobs' in the same sentence...

Also, it was Martin Luther King day today. Great holiday according to me but there really should have been more accordingly celebrations than the quotes on the 'cup slips' at Starbucks...

Even more so, South Beach over christmas/new years was amazing. It's not at all as bad as people say. Don't miss Shore Club.

And last, if you have not seen the exhibition by Pipilotti Rits at MoMa. See it.

This picture was captured with my fancy cell phone camera at 7.30 am a couple of days ago. I hate mornings but they are strikingly beautiful...

Classic Music

at least to me it is!
Still home at 11.30 trying to digest todays lunch... great this food poisoning aftermath!!

Ever Been Food Poisoned?

It's impossible to eat, I would know, but really THIS is the way to go if you want to feel better.
I am well aware this is a side note in here but I wouldn't want my worst enemy (if I have one of those?!) to feel like I have for the passed 2 days.
It is AriZona Blueberry Antioxidant Ice Tea (made in Brooklyn which is great) + green grapes and a simple banana.
